Rythu Bandhu Life Insurance Scheme proved to be the biggest source of support for the peasant families that lost their breadwinners during the past five days after its launch.
Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said on Saturday that the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) remitted Rs 5 lakh each to the accounts of 52 of the 78 farmers who died during this period.
Settlement of the insurance claims of remaining 26 farmers was in process.
